Strendingur ehf. engineering firm was founded on January 26, 1995. Since the beginning, we have specialized in a wide range of consulting services in the field of civil engineering, including the design of structures, the execution and management of tenders, construction management, project supervision and monitoring. We have also carried out research, measurements and procurement of products and services. Our projects are diverse and range from smaller residential buildings to larger structures, such as apartment buildings, schools, sports halls, swimming pools, commercial and industrial buildings, residential streets, highways, bridges, harbors, sea embankments and power plants. Our customers are both owners of structures and developers. Strendingur's headquarters are located at Dalshraun 3, 220 Hafnarfjörður.

The word strendingur has its original meaning from mathematics. In reality, a pencil can come in many shapes and sizes, but in the simplest sense it is a three-dimensional object with two sides that are identical polygons. The company's name is still rooted in the yellow pencil with an eraser on the end, which was the most important tool for engineers and other designers here in years past. Pencils, which can undoubtedly sometimes have three sides and are then called three-sided pencils, are, however, like the yellow pencil, most often have six sides and are in those cases called six-sided pencils.
